Reunion FAQ:

Q: Why have a reunion FAQ?

A: We felt it was important to let our classmates know

what we are doing for the reunion and why we are doing it.

We would appreciate any comments you might have.

Q: Where can I find information about the reunion?

A: The reunion web site at www.deerlakes1977.com will have

the latest about the reunion and reunion activities.

You can also send us an email at info@deerlakes1977.com

Q: Can I help out?

A: Yes! If you want to help out, send us an email at info@deerlakes1977.com

Q: Where and when is the reunion?

A: The reunion will be held at the Clairon Hotel

(the old Holiday Inn New Kensington)

on Saturday evening November 23, 2002

Q: Why have a joint reunion?

A: The class of 1977 was approached by the class of 1976

about doing a joint reunion since they were unable

to put one together last year for themselves.

We felt it was a good idea for these reasons:

1) It helps us keep the costs down

2) Having more people attend makes for a better reunion

3) A joint reunion might be an incentive for people to attend.

Q: I didn't graduate in 1976 or 1977, can I come too?

A: Maybe. We're not opposed to inviting people from other classes.

It will probably depend on whether or not we have enough space.

The room at the Clarion is suppose to hold a maximum of 250 people.

At the last reunion, each class had over 100 people attend.

So if we have a light turnout, we may open the reunion to other classes.

If you're from another class and would like to attend, send us an email

at info@deerlakes1977.com and we'll let you know.

Q: Why have the reunion at the Clarion?

A: We picked the Clarion for these reasons:

1) Their prices were reasonable compared with other places

2) They have few restrictions about what we can do.

3) Rooms are available for people to stay overnight.

4) They have a bar for people who still want to party after the reunion.

Q: Why have the reunion in November?

A: We waited too long to start planning the reunion to have

a reunion in the spring or summer. A lot of places are booked

a year or more in advance. We needed to start planning in

January 2001 for a spring reunion. Maybe for the next reunion we'll

start planning in January 2006.

Q: Why have the reunion the Saturday before Thanksgiving?

A: We had the 20-year reunion during the same time of year

and we had the best turnout yet. Our reasoning is that the

people who want to come in for Thanksgiving can do so,

but if you have somewhere else to be for Thanksgiving,

you have time to get there.

Q: Why not have a open bar?

A: We felt it was too expensive. The Clarion wanted

$9 per person for the first hour and $3 hour per person after that

to host an open bar. No place we looked at had a

reasonable price for an open bar.

Q: Are we going to have some gathering before or after the reunion?

A: There has been some discussion but we haven't come up with

anything yet. Some people suggested a picnic, which might have

been possible if the reunion was held in the spring/summer, but

not in late November. We also had a poor turnout when we've had

a picnic in the past. We're currently thinking about possibly

having some kind of an informal gathering at a bar the Friday

before the reunion if we get enough interest.
